We will discuss methods for identifying risk factors and strategies to reduce musculoskeletal risk, including job coaching. This talk will focus on six general ergonomics principles. These principles are a starting point toward implementing engineering controls, behavioural changes, and updates to training. Attendees are then encouraged to meet with their teams and use these principles as a starting point to target musculoskeletal injury risk reduction.
Attendees will be able to:
Identify the signs & symptoms of musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs).
Identify the primary risk factors associated with the development of MSIs associated with maintaining fleet vehicles.
Complete their maintenance tasks in a manner to reduce their risk of developing an MSI.
Set up workstations to optimize awkward postures.
Optimize task order to reduce overloading.
Identify MSI signs & symptoms for early reporting.
Identify primary risk factors for MSI development to make changes.
Identify equipment that could be used to reduce awkward postures.
